Entry: Music Of The Week - Shave by Enon. Jul 18, 2005

Daigoro Tachibana as Osei, the GeishaI could go on about Enon, but I won't. Mainly because I know jackbooger about them. I watched Zatoichi today. It's hilarious, it's sad, it's disgusting, it's beautiful, it's everything and I absolutely loved it. I think it's what makes a great film, being able to successfully make the audience feel different emotions within the span of a couple of hours. I highly recommend it, even if you don't understand Japanese, just sit there if you like and watch blood literally spit out of most of the cast. Beautiful isn't she? Well, if you're not aware, this is a 17-year-old guy. Seriously. Daigoro Tachibana isn't just some actor who got dressed up for this particular role. He is a Kabuki (Japanese theatre) performer who plays the role of women. It's no joke! He actually studies women and the way we behave. He's pretty damn good at it. I'd have to agree with him when he said, "Many people say that a role of a woman played by a boy is more attractive because (this means that) men are able to find out what makes a woman attractive." Even the fact that he has the guts to dress as a woman and make her look so dignified and flawless is admirable. You can read more about him [here] by the way.
